What this tool does
This tool shows you exactly where your business ranks on Google Maps across your neighbourhood, not just from one spot, but from dozens of different street corners around you. Instead of a single rank number that feels abstract, you get a visual grid of your real visibility. Green cells show where you're winning the search, red cells show where potential customers are seeing your competitors instead of you.
How to use it
- Enter your business name. Start typing and pick your business from the dropdown. We'll automatically find your location and city.
- Pick a keyword to track. Either type one yourself (e.g. "emergency plumber", "italian restaurant downtown") or tap one of the suggested keywords that match your business type.
- Add up to two competitors (optional). These are businesses you'd like to compare yourself against. We'll show where they rank versus you at every point on the map.
- Choose a grid size and radius. How wide an area to scan and how densely. A 5×5 grid over a 2km radius is a great starting point for most local businesses.
- Run the scan. Watch the grid fill in live. Each cell becomes colour coded based on where you rank at that exact spot.
Reading your results
Once the scan finishes, each cell shows your Google Maps ranking for that keyword when someone searches from that exact location:
- Green cells (1 to 3). You're in the top 3 results. These customers are finding you easily.
- Yellow cells (4 to 7). You're on the first page but not at the top. There's room to grow.
- Orange cells (8 to 15). You're visible but likely getting scrolled past.
- Red cells (16 and above). Customers searching from here probably aren't seeing you at all. This is your biggest opportunity.
Click any cell to see the top 3 competitors at that specific location, who customers in that area are finding instead of you.
Comparing against competitors
If you added competitors, you can switch map views after the scan to see their grid rankings for the same keyword, or flip to the "All 3 compared" view to see everyone's position side by side on every cell. Competitor locations appear as numbered pins on the map so you can see their physical position relative to yours.
Checking your website's Google appearance
The URL checker at the top of the page lets you preview how your website shows up in Google Search. Enter your site address and we'll pull the title, description, and favicon that Google typically uses for your listing, so you can see what new visitors see before they click.
Saving and sharing reports
Every scan is saved automatically in your browser under the Saved scans tab. You can export any scan as a JSON file for your records, or download a PNG image of the grid to share with your team, include in reports, or send to your marketing agency.
Why this matters for your business
Most people search for local services on their phone, and Google tailors results based on where the searcher is standing. A business that's #1 from its own front door might be #12 from the other side of town. Knowing your true local visibility, block by block, is the foundation of every effective local SEO strategy. This tool gives you that map in minutes.
